General terms of sale

Acceptance of the GTS

Any order implies full and unreserved acceptance of these general terms of sale.

Article 1 — Preamble

These general terms of sale (hereinafter the “GTS”) apply to the contractual relationship between:

and

The customer: any natural or legal person ordering apostille, legalisation or document translation services (hereinafter the “Customer”).

Article 2 — Purpose

These GTS define the rights and obligations of the parties in connection with apostille, legalisation and document translation services provided by Legal Express.

Article 3 — Services offered

Legal Express offers the following services:

  • Apostille: certification of documents for countries party to the Hague Convention (1961)
  • Legalisation: authentication of documents with the French Legalisation and Apostille Chamber (Clap) and embassies or consulates
  • Certified translation: official translation by a sworn translator
  • Support: advice and personalised follow-up of your file

Article 4 — Ordering

4.1. Placing an order

The Customer may order:

  • Online via the form on legalisation-express.fr
  • By email at info@legal-express.fr
  • By phone on +33 1 43 18 18 17
  • At our office: 8 place de la Porte de Champerret, 75017 Paris

4.2. Order confirmation

The order is deemed confirmed after:

  • Receipt of original documents or certified true copies
  • Receipt of payment (as agreed)
  • A confirmation email sent by Legal Express

4.3. Required documents

The Customer undertakes to provide:

  • Original documents or certified true copies
  • A valid proof of identity
  • Any additional documents required for the type of service

Article 5 — Prices and payment methods

5.1. Prices

Prices are shown in euros including VAT and include:

  • Legal Express service fees
  • Official administrative fees (apostille, legalisation)
  • Translation fees (if applicable)

Important: delivery charges are not included and will be billed separately according to the delivery method chosen.

5.2. Payment methods

Payment may be made by:

  • Bank card: secure online payment (3-D Secure)
  • Bank transfer: IBAN provided on request
  • Cash: payment at the office (up to €1,000)

5.3. Invoice

A paid invoice is sent by email after payment in full.

Article 6 — Timeframes

6.1. Processing timeframes

Indicative timeframes are as follows:

Standard apostille

7 to 15 business days (indicative)

Consular legalisation

7 to 15 business days (indicative)

Express processing

3 to 4 business days (indicative; surcharge may apply)

Please note: these timeframes are indicative and may vary depending on authorities, peak periods or public holidays.

6.2. Delays

If there is a significant delay not attributable to the Customer, Legal Express undertakes to:

  • Inform the Customer as soon as possible
  • Propose an alternative solution or a revised schedule

No compensation may be claimed for delays due to authorities or circumstances beyond the service provider’s control.

Article 7 — Delivery

7.1. Delivery methods

  • PDF only (free): scanned documents sent by email
  • Collection at the office (free): 8 place de la Porte de Champerret, 75017 Paris
  • Tracked letter France (€10): 3 to 5 business days
  • UPS Express France (€40): fast delivery in 1 to 2 days
  • UPS International (€90–120): delivery abroad
  • Courier on request (quotation): bespoke service

7.2. Liability

Legal Express cannot be held liable for delays or loss attributable to the carrier. The Customer must pursue any claim directly with the carrier.

Article 8 — Right of withdrawal

In accordance with Article L. 221-28 of the French Consumer Code:

Limited right of withdrawal

The right of withdrawal does not apply to services fully performed before the end of the withdrawal period where performance has begun with the consumer’s prior express agreement and express waiver of the right of withdrawal.

By placing an order, the Customer expressly agrees that performance begins immediately and waives the right of withdrawal.

Article 9 — Cancellation and refunds

9.1. Cancellation by the Customer

  • Before processing begins: full refund minus a 10% file fee
  • After processing has begun: charges incurred billed in proportion to progress
  • After submission to authorities: no refund possible

9.2. Cancellation by Legal Express

Legal Express may refuse or cancel an order if:

  • Documents are non-compliant or incomplete
  • It is technically or legally impossible to perform the service
  • Payment is outstanding

If Legal Express cancels, the Customer will receive a full refund.

Article 10 — Liability

10.1. Legal Express’ obligations

Legal Express undertakes to:

  • Handle documents with the utmost care
  • Meet timeframes wherever possible
  • Keep the Customer informed of progress
  • Return original documents

10.2. Limitation of liability

Legal Express’ liability cannot be engaged in the event of:

  • Refusal of legalisation or apostille by authorities
  • Non-compliant documents supplied by the Customer
  • Delays attributable to authorities or carriers
  • Force majeure

In any event, Legal Express’ liability is limited to the amount of the service invoiced.

Article 11 — Personal data

Processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy policy, in line with the GDPR.

Data collected is necessary to perform the service and is retained for 10 years in accordance with the French Commercial Code.

Article 12 — Intellectual property

All elements of the legalisation-express.fr website (texts, images, logos) are protected by copyright. Any reproduction is prohibited without express permission.

Article 13 — Mediation and dispute resolution

13.1. Consumer mediation

In accordance with Article L. 612-1 of the French Consumer Code, in the event of a dispute the Customer may use a consumer mediator free of charge:

13.2. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These GTS are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the French courts have exclusive jurisdiction.

Article 14 — Changes

Legal Express may amend these GTS at any time. The new terms apply as soon as they are published online.

The GTS applicable are those in force on the date of the order.
